Oh the things people wear going to the Belmont Stakes (Photo by Dawna Wood/GallopingHatRack.com)

I was able to pick up some souvenirs at the NYRA Shop at Belmont Park… they had absolutely nothing to offer on other Belmont contenders (I even asked) except for I’ll Have Another gear. I was vociferous that these should have been on clearance.

The I’ll Have Another shirt is fresh off the presses! It took me a while figuring out how I wanted to achieve the half-tone effect in color this time and then just cropping out the horse *just right* is what took me so long. Get yours in whatever color, style, and size you’d like here!
I added five cookies to the background to go along with the story behind his name, one for each of his spring races: the Robert B. Lewis, the Santa Anita Derby, the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and next, the Belmont Stakes.
Use the code TEEMAY at checkout for 10% off your order, good until Wednesday night. All proceeds go to New Vocations.

Spiral’s Today

Being round 9 of 12 for the Derby Handicap Contest, you might want to get your entry in real quick if you haven’t already. Sorry I’d have given you guys more time/a quicker response, but my body apparently wanted to sleep in real bad. And now it wants McDonald’s.

Anyway, you all have until 4:45pm EST to get those entries in… no scratches thus far today… and don’t forget about the awesome Derby Hopeful tee! I’ve sold *checks* 4 of these suckers already so I’m well on my way to the fundraising goal for New Vocations. The winner of the Derby Handicap Contest gets one gratis, and I intend on wearing one when I shuttle out to the Belmont Stakes.

Want to help retired racehorses and look cool in the process? I started up a RedBubble account recently and have finished up the Derby Hopeful tee for anyone to buy anytime. The design features Hansen and Union Rags on a backdrop containing OVER 100 colts nominated for the Triple Crown. It took me a great deal of care and time, and all proceeds will benefit New Vocations. I hope to raise $100 for them over the next several months.
The winner of the Derby Handicap Contest will receive this shirt in their choice of size and color, as well!
Please reblog and or share on social networks if you’d like to help a great cause!

An early look at the charity tee I’m designing! I decided for now I’ll be sticking with the 2012 Derby hopefuls concept since I’ve already started on it, so here’s an early preview of what it’ll look like. On the back will be names of many more Derby hopefuls!
I will likely be giving away a few of these shirts in the contest I’ll be announcing soon, the rest you will be able to order in a week or two to benefit a great cause. Stay tuned for details… what do you think so far?

Which Do You Think Would Be Cooler?

In the process of designing a Derby-themed shirt to benefit charity, and I’m trying to decide between the two: the names of CURRENT 2012 Kentucky Derby hopefuls (i.e. Liasion, Sabercat, Union Rags) or some horses who have already won the Derby (i.e. Secretariat, Mine That Bird, Smarty Jones)? The current hopefuls would be a cool way to show your support heading into this year’s Triple Crown, but I wonder if people would just rather have the names of those who have won it on their back.

What do you think? Input would be greatly appreciated!

I nearly cried when I saw my bank balance, meaning I won’t be able to order one of these Havre de Grace tees in time for the BC Classic (I REALLY REALLY hope I get that job I interviewed twice for!). They start at $15 and ship straight from Fox Hill Farm in Delaware!
Edited: I keep thinking Havre de Grace is in Maryland… her name was also the name of an old race track there so I’m always confused ;)
