Photographer Jamie Newell calls this “the million dollar kiss.” The connections of Saturday’s Arlington Million (I) winner Cape Blanco [IRE] [pictured in the background] certainly have reason to pucker up— the gorgeous chestnut son of Galileo has won them $936,000 in purse money this year alone!
In overseas racing news, the Australian Turf Club beckons the world’s top ranked horse to a match race in Sydney against two challengers. The connections of undefeated five-year-old mare Black Caviar have already qualified for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships in November, but may be tempted to pit the mare in a single or series of match races against two other Australian sprinters, Hay List and More Joyous. However, it is doubted the $1 million event will pan out, as Black Caviar aims for the Melbourne Cup and possibly Japan racing as the other two horses recover from injuries.
